2026 Winter-Spring School District Referendum Results

It was a rough spring at the ballot box for rural school district bond referendums.  Only three of eleven passed, 27%. One of those which passed was in Staples-Motley for a zero dollar increase; it was simply to extend the current tax rate.  In comparison 67% of metro districts passed their bond referendums.

Here are the combined results from referendums held Feb. 10, April 14 and May 12 which are the winter-spring dates allowed in law.

Rural/Metro Passed Failed
Rural Montevideo, Osakis, Staples-Motley Aiken, Chisago Lakes, Little Falls, North Branch, Princeton, Rushford-Peterson, Tri-City United, Windom
Metro Wayzata, Lakeville South St. Paul

In addition, voters approved the consolidation of Carlton and Wrenshall school districts which had no tax impact on the ballot.
