MREA Welcomes Four New School Districts

MREA is the only organization advocating exclusively for Greater MN. Our MREA voice has been successful and is recognized as the voice for rural MN—because our voice is stronger when we work together. We have added another four districts to our membership this year. The work of advocacy needs everyone, so our Greater Minnesota voice is heard during this upcoming legislative session.

Cannon Falls Public Schools

Cannon Falls has a dedicated staff and administration that makes Cannon Falls great every day! Along with our broad academic and CTE programming, we are becoming a state leader in offering locally sourced breakfasts and lunches to our students through the Farm to School program. We joined MREA because of their advocacy for rural schools. Thanks to Superintendent Jeff Sampson!

Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools

At Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools, we are proud to offer a dynamic and student-centered educational experience. This year’s KW theme, Igniting Potential, Inspiring Excellence, reflects our commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations, where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential and excel in all aspects of their lives.

“We joined MREA because we believe in the power of collaboration and advocacy for rural schools. MREA provides a strong voice for our district, ensuring that the unique needs of rural education are represented at the state level. By joining, we gain access to valuable resources, legislative updates, and professional development opportunities that support our mission to deliver high-quality education to all students,” Giese says.  Thanks Superintendent Beth Giese!

Lake City Public Schools

Lake City Public Schools is a statewide leader in the implementation of College and Career Readiness metrics using the Redefining Ready research from AASA. Each year students and parents meet with high school staff to check in on progress and ensure students will graduate prepared for the future they choose. The graduating class of 2024 had a record 96% of students college or career ready!

“We joined MREA because MREA is the premier organization in Minnesota focused on the strengths, issues and needs of rural schools. Through thoughtful advocacy and collaborative networking, MREA provides excellent benefits that made membership an easy decision for our district,” Wright says. Thanks Superintendent Ariana Wright!

Medford School District

Medford School District strives to provide a quality education and prepare our children and community for the future to 875 students K-12 in Southern MN. We joined MREA to ensure that we have representation in the areas that MREA has been known to take on for their member districts. Thanks Superintendent Mark Ristau!

We welcome all four districts to MREA as they each bring a talented and dedicated group of professionals who live, work, and serve in rural communities. We are proud of them for joining us in working to ensure all rural Minnesota students receive exemplary educational experiences. Please look for them at the Greater Education Summit and welcome them to MREA. Our voice is stronger with their membership!
