The Minnesota House Education Finance Committee will hold its hearing planned for Feb. 22 at Windom Public Schools. The meeting will include discussion on public education funding and the needs of rural school districts. Two bills also are expected to be introduced.
Chair Jim Davnie planned the off-site hearing as a way to help legislators gain a broader perspective on the issues of Greater Minnesota. Students, as well as other school leaders from Greater Minnesota, are expected to testify.
“The Minnesota House and Chair Davnie are to be commended for bringing such an important committee for education to Windom to hear from Greater Minnesota students, teachers, administrators, school board members and community leaders,” MREA Executive Director Fred Nolan said.
These meetings are typically held in St. Paul at the State Office Building. Learn more about the committee and read recent minutes.
