Minnesota Compensatory Revenue Task Force Issues Preliminary Report
At the end of February, the Compensatory Revenue Task Force issued a preliminary report to the Minnesota Legislature. The Executive Summary states that the “report outlines the purpose and processes of the task force…. Each section of this report explains the duty, the current state of the area under review, options being considered, and other additional information that may be needed or is already scheduled to be reviewed….”
The report is quite detailed and delves into eight topics the task force is legislatively directed to investigate. Rural schools are fortunate to have three members of the Compensatory Revenue Task Force:
- Matt Grose – Superintendent, Grand Rapids Public Schools
- Earl V. Athman – House GOP appointee
- Dr. Chris Mills – Senate Minority appointee, Superintendent, Thief River Falls Public Schools
MREA members are encouraged to join the Advocacy Briefing at 10 am on Monday, March 16 for a conversation on compensatory funding with members of the task force.
The task force’s final report is due October 31, 2026.
