MREA will have six open seats on its Board of Directors beginning Jan. 1, 2018. Individuals interested in representing school districts in rural Minnesota are encouraged to apply by Oct. 13.
MREA’s four membership zones are represented by one school administrator, one teacher, one school board member, and one at-large member. The Board of Directors also appoints two higher education, two service cooperative, and one education district representative. View current Board.

Board Meetings
Directors are expected to attend 4 board meetings in 2018 plus the Annual Conference in November. Meetings are two days, generally starting late afternoon/evening and continuing until noon the second day. View the meeting schedule.
Directors are reimbursed travel expenses, and MREA provides meals and lodging. Directors may also be eligible for per diem per board policy. Districts are reimbursed substitute pay for teacher representatives.

To apply for a Board vacancy, a candidate must represent a full (non-introductory) member of MREA, must come from the zone in which the vacancy exists, and must agree to attend the Board meetings and the Annual Conference. Submit an application.
Applications must be submitted online and include a Statement of Interest that will accompany the ballot mailed to eligible voting members. Please encourage qualified candidates to apply. Candidates must submit their own applications. The application deadline is 5 pm, Friday, October 13.
