Candidates for North Central Zone Vacancy
SCHOOL BOARD
Lisa Braun, Sauk Rapids-Rice
I have been impressed with the high-quality educational opportunities provided for members. I have served on the Sauk Rapids-Rice Board of Education for 15 years. It is an amazing privilege to share in the decision-making process in providing the highest educational experience possible for our students while also providing a quality work environment for our staff and collaboration with our community. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with community partnerships, a multitude of leadership experiences in education and government and a desire to strengthen rural education. I am honored to submit my application for an MREA Board Member.
Mark Gerbi, Little Falls
I have been serving on the Little Falls Community Schools board of education for 10 years. In my first year I attended MREA’s fall conference that added to my education on the responsibilities I assumed when I was voted on to the school board. I have not missed a conference since. The work with the state legislature to get our message out so folks in outstate Minnesota truly have a voice in St. Paul is what is needed for our school districts. I will listen to your concerns and voice those concerns to MREA. We can get a lot done for the betterment of rural schools. I would be most proud to represent you and your district.
Judith (Judy) Moeller, Parkers Prairie
I have served as Effington Township clerk for 37 years and chaired Parkers Prairie’s $2 million Aquatic Center finished 2 years ago without any tax burden on our community. I joined the School Board 15 years ago. I was assigned to the Otter Tail Collaborative to help coordinate services from various agencies with the school districts and served as Vice Chairperson on the Runestone Area Education District (RAED) board for 13 years to provide special services such as blind/vision, PT, OT, and credit recovery. I joined the Lakes Country Services Cooperative in 2019 and the Region 1 joint powers board in 2020. I have a wealth of knowledge to bring insight to Greater Minnesota Schools.
Gary Stennes, Nevis
I have been in education for 56 years as a music instructor, substitute teacher & Nevis School Board officer. As you can see with my years of experience, I am dedicated to helping young minds develop in a positive manner. I have recently taken a long-term title one position at Nevis until November 26. Before Covid I attended the MREA conventions and the local info meetings. Thank you for considering me for this position.
