MREA hosted a virtual meeting on Cooperative Facilities as a part of its annual Fall Member Meetings on key issues for Greater Minnesota schools. Here are three key takeaways from the session and resources for schools:
- There are 35 Greater Minnesota cooperatives through which school districts serve students and accomplish work together.
- The four metro Intermediate districts and their member districts utilize more lease levy authority to build and maintain cooperative facilities for high need students than rural districts.
- The 2014 Facility Working Group’s recommendation #4, if enacted, would create a more level playing field for Greater Minnesota cooperatives to serve students and provide a tool for districts to remodel facilities through board approval.
